Shebi Arus is the Whirling Dervish Ceremony that celebrates the union of Mevlana Rumi with the Beloved.

Join us for this beautiful ceremony at Colet House, The Study Society, for an exchange of love between the audience and dervishes. This year's Sheb-i Arus celebration will feature music by our in-house Mevlevi music ensemble who will play Suzidilara Ayin composed by Sultan Selim III (1761 – 28 July 1808).

A great lover of music, Selim III performed on the ney (reed flute) and tanbur (long-necked, fretted lute). He is credited with Sixty-four compositions, and fourteen new makams (melodic types), some of which are part of the regular repertory of Turkish classical music.

Please note that the doors close at the earlier time of 7.30pm, after which time there will be no one to open the door. Early seating by 7.00pm is strongly advised.

Please bring a dish of food for yourself and each of your guests to share after the Mukabele in the studio downstairs.
