Talks and concerts

Truth and wisdom can be found in almost any aspect of human endeavour, so at the Study Society we invite occasional presentations from accomplished members and invited guests. These can range from artists and scientists to philosophers and mystics. In the study of non-duality, everything can contribute. Such talks usually take place about twice a term and are open to the public as well as members. They are usually free, but donations may be invited to help with costs.
There are also occasional concerts, ranging from classical recitals by pianists and string quartets, to jazz and Indian classical music. In addition, Colet House often hosts events from other like-minded organisations, many of which are open to the public.
Past speakers have included: the archaeologist Lord Renfrew, physicists Paul Davies and Sir Brian Pippard, artists Cecil Collins and Kaffe Fassett, Fr.Bede Griffiths, Anita Roddick, Dr Peter Fenwick and many others.
For forthcoming talks and concerts, see Events. In addition some talks can be downloaded.
Towards Silence
Sir John Tavener writes: "'Towards Silence' is a meditation on the four states of Atma for four string quartets and Large Tibetan Bowl." The Study Society sponsored a private performance at Colet House in July 2009, just before the European Premiere in Winchester Cathedral. The Society also supported a performance as part of 'Just This Day' in November 2010 and you can hear the performance here.
You can read more about it at Towards Silence and can buy the CD from Signum Classics or Amazon.
